What is Hormone Pellet Therapy Bioidentical Hormone Replacement?
Hormone Pellet Therapy is a form of natural, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. The method utilizes small pellets, which consist only of compressed bioidentical hormones derived from plants. The tiny pellets are implanted underneath the skin on the outside of the hip after a local anesthetic has been used. The dosage of the hormones is very specific and personalized for each patient using lab work, symptoms, age, gender and weight. After insertion, the hormones are slowly released into the patient’s system controlling symptoms.

Why Hormone Pellet Therapy over creams, capsules, or shots?
Bioidentical creams and capsules are not absorbed 100%. Your body has a specific amount that it can absorb via skin or your digestive tract. Creams and capsules need to be used daily to maintain appropriate blood levels to control symptoms. Injections need to be used, at minimum, weekly to help control symptoms. Hormone Pellet Therapy is absorbed 100% because it is implanted under the skin. The dose of hormones picked up by your body from the pellets at any given time is based on cardiac output and blood flow, making it a more biologically identical way for your body to receive hormones. For example, if you are more active one day, your body will absorb slightly more, which is when you would need a bigger dose anyway. This is similar to how a healthy endocrine system works in your body naturally.
How long does a treatment last?
Treatment length varies from person to person and based on gender. Male therapy typically lasts between 5 and 7 months. Women’s pellets last typically between 4 and 6 months.
What are the pellets made of?
The pellets are made of only compressed bioidentical hormones derived from either yams or soy products. There is nothing else in the pellets, therefore they dissolve completely over time. There are no known allergens associated with the wild yams and soy used for the pellets, because once the hormone is made, there is no longer any of the protein from either plant remaining (the protein is often the component that people react to in foods).
